Ghanaian former professional footballer , Michael Essien who played as a midfielder and currently a part of Danish Superliga club FC Nordsjælland’s Player /coaching staff has had some serious backlash from social media users and some Ghanaians for supporting LGBT+ in Ghana.

In a post on Instagram, Essien called for more support for gays and lesbians in Ghana, insisting they must be heard.
“We see you, we hear you, we support you. Our LGBTQIA plus Community in Ghana #ghanasupportequalityGH,” he wrote.
However, the ex-Chelsea star was criticized by some of his followers, leading to the deletion of the post.
